I haven't had time to search through the whole forum to see if this has been discussed but sorry if it has. I was just wondering if anyone knows how to take the Cuffs off of Salomon boots and whether anyone knows if Vinny Minton cuffs fit Chaz Sands 2002 boot ?? any help would be appreciated.

Thx Jijjy_Neutron

To get the cuff off, you have to either use a rivet popper and pop the rivets or drill the rivets out. Either way, you'll have to replace the hardware. I'm not sure if the Minton cuffs will work or not, sorry.
Jijjy_Neutron
OK thanks for the info, and do you know where i can get replacement rivets from ??
Kazhole313
Check the nearest hardware store, they should have some. They'd most likely have the stuff you'd need to put the new rivets in too.
You could always use these instead so that it's easier to replace next time.

What colour do you i should dye my skates they are Salo's Chas sand 2002's, so something that goes with blue i was thinking maybe orange ?
Kazhole313
In the right shade, any color can go with blue...
I'm not a fan of blue at all so I'm no help on this one.
Jijjy_Neutron
OK. i was thinking of a light Orange or maybe magenta
Kazhole313
Actually, the magenta could look pretty good.

Rivet popper, or drill. If you use a drill a 1/2in drill bit will get the back cuffs rivets out and an 3/4in drill bit will get the side cuff rivets out. As for hardware, buy a set Vinny Minton cuffs. Search Ebay, you'll find them. But you can use regular cuff bolts from USD or Razors and some old t-nuts and bolts with a washer between the bolt and cuff to secure the back of the cuff to the boot if you use cuffs other than the VM's. If your short on drill bits just use whatever you have lying around, drill a hole in the middle then drill into the sides of the rivet 5 or 6 times through the opening of the cuff. Then use a pair of pliers to pry them off. The rivets are only aluminum.
Heres a link to my salo's with replaceable cuffs.
